別名:美洲南瓜、西葫蘆、夏葫蘆

用途:

1.藥用:據《本草綱目》註，南瓜性溫味甘、入脾、胃經。具有補中益氣、消炎止痛、化痰排膿、解毒殺蟲功能、生肝氣、益肝血、保胎。

2.食用:果肉是黃色，可食用，含維他命A、糖、澱粉質、胡蘿蔔素，味美。亦可當飲料。

3.裝飾用

植物形態:

一年生草本，莖蔓生呈五棱形，無剛刺；

五角狀心形的葉子，葉脈間有白斑；

雌雄異花同株，黃色的花冠裂片大，先端長而尖，雌花花萼裂片葉狀；

果實近圓形，果面平滑或有瘤，成熟後有白粉，褐色，有斑紋，果柄五棱，與果實相接的部分膨大成五角形的梗座。
